THREE hardworking nominees are in the running for a top award.

The trio were selected by Warrington Guardian readers and social media follows of Warrington and Halton Hospital.

And they have been shortlisted in the People's Choice Award.

The winners, along with many others, will be announced at the trust's annual awards bash at the Concorde Conference Centre at Manchester Airport tonight, Friday.

The finalists are:

• Sheila McNie, Ward B18

Nomination extract: “During my six-week stay Sheila went above and beyond, changing her approach to each patient to meet their needs. Nothing was too much trouble and she often got us singing to cheer us up. She is one amazing lady and I wish the wards could clone her as she is a shining example of what a carer should be.

Warrington Guardian:

"Some would say she provides essential care but she doesn’t, she provides the best care making you feel human and cared for when you are at your lowest going through hard times.”

• Warrington Diabetic Foot Clinic

“Due to being a diabetes type 2 patient with severe foot issues I have needed significant medical treatment over the past 19 months and WDFC have gone and continue to go way beyond what I would call standard care.

Warrington Guardian:

"I can honestly say the exceptional level of care, treatment, professionalism and amazing attention to detail given to me by the whole team has had a very positive impact on my day to day living and my ability/mobility to live and enjoy a more active life. My gratitude cannot be quantified enough.”

• Neonatal Unit Team

“My son was born at 27 weeks after an emergency operation due to a cord prolapse, and subsequently required three blood transfusions. Not only did the staff care for my son on this rollercoaster journey, they were there for me too. I have so much trust in them and know they look after all other babies in the unit as if they are their own children.

Warrington Guardian: The Neonatal team

"It’s the love they provide that makes the babies stronger. I’m eternally grateful for their professionalism, care, medical treatment and for the strength they gave me during this difficult time.”
