DARYL Clark is confident his best form in primrose and blue is yet to come.

The 22-year-old has so far struggled to impact games the way he did in a Man of Steel-winning season with Castleford Tigers last year.

Clark, a marquee signing for Wolves in the off-season, has rarely been afforded the quick ball he thrives off so far this campaign.

But the hooker is confident Warrington fans will witness the form that won him an England call-up last year when the pitches dry out in the coming months.

“A couple of games we have been on the front foot, but the games we’ve lost I’ve not really got into the game,” said the reigning Steve Prescott Man of Steel.

“Hopefully when it dries up and the pitches get a bit faster that will bring a lot more space.

“We’re a bit disappointed in how we’ve gone. We’ve had a couple of good games and not backed them up or got a bit of momentum.

“We’ve not played anywhere near where we can and we’re still fourth, so hopefully we can get a couple of wins over Easter and build into the middle of the season.

“We’ve been scratchy and there are a couple of areas to touch up on, but once we get those right we’ll keep improving.”

Easter Monday pits the Castleford-born youngster against his hometown club for the first time, but tonight Clark will get his first taste a Widnes-Warrington derby.

“I’m looking forward to it as I am every game,” he added.

“There’s not been too much spoken about the derby, so I suppose I’ll have to wait for the night and find out myself.

“I’ve always seemed to do all right there so hopefully that can repeat.”

Clark scored an impressive hat-trick in Castleford colours at the Select Security Stadium last season and hopes the i-pitch will benefit his game again in round eight.

“Some people are 50-50 on it, but I don’t mind it,” he explained.

“A dry pitch suits me and we’ve had plenty of wet, muddy fields and slippery balls the last few weeks. So it will be nice to get a dry field.”

As for the visit of Daryl Powell’s side to The Halliwell Jones Stadium, boyhood-Castleford fan Clark admits that it will be a little strange playing against the likes of his former teammate and fellow hooker Adam Milner.

“I’m just taking one game at a time but it’s one I’m looking forward to,” he added.

“Hopefully we’ll get a good win on Thursday building in to Monday “It will be a little strange playing against people I’ve known for a long time. It will be a bit different “I’ve played with Milner for quite a few years and we had a good partnership for a number of years.

“You form an idea of how each other play and Cas are going to know what to expect from me, but I’ll know what to expect from a few of the Cas players.

“But we need to try and chalk two good wins off over Easter.”
