A SALON in Barton has triumphed over tens of big city rivals thanks to its trademarked method of doing hair extensions.

Oliver Gibney Hairdressing, which has outlets in Barnton and Frodsham, has developed Glowlight, a 'damage-free' approach to hair extensions which doesn’t use solvents and adhesives.

With 650 clients on the books, it's proven very popular, and has raised the company’s profile sky high within the beauty industry.

Now, for the second year running, the business was named hair extension salon of the year at the English Hair and Beauty Awards held at Manchester’s Mercure Piccadilly Hotel on Sunday, April 7.

Owner, Oliver Gibney, said he was ‘shocked’ to win this year as the list of competitors was so strong.

The 39-year-old said: “There was absolutely load of competition this year, so we really didn’t expect to win. We’re all just so happy.

"The shortlist included some very prestigious salons in big city centres like Liverpool and Manchester. We’re just a small-town salon. It’s actually pretty crazy.

“The ceremony itself was super glitzy and glamorous. Everyone had made a massive effort. It was buzzing.

“We’ve been looking for something new to bring to the industry for a while, and it looks like we found it with out new, damage-free approach.”
