USING the well-trusted tactic of rubbishing your opponent for something you have done in error, Labour councillors continue to criticise our MP for telling people in Winsford what they have the right to hear.

Antoinette Sandbach MP has embarrassed and exposed Labour councillors for not seeking or considering their residents’ views when they decided to express an interest in building a prison in Winsford.

What is not surprising is that rather than admit the part they have had in the decision to put forward sites in Winsford for consideration, they deflect blame by suggesting our MP is not following protocol or process by raising the subject to the residents.

Thankfully the people of Winsford can see straight past the smokescreen that Labour are putting up and are angry that the Labour vision for the town includes a prison instead of a more ambitious and aspirational plan for the future.

All Winsford councillors should look at the petition at ipetitions.

com/petition/call-on-cwacc-toconsult- on-prison and see what the views of residents are.

Perhaps then they will join me in asking Winsford Councillor Brian Clarke (cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure) to write immediately to the team at the Ministry of Justice and remove the expression of interest in locating a prison in Winsford.
