LOCAL residents are probably aware that the A530 Nantwich Road has a low bridge on the outskirts of Middlewich this being in the form of the aqueduct.

Does anyone know why then Cheshire East Council has diverted high sided vehicles on to this road while they have Warmingham Lane closed for repair, with no apparent height warning.

No-one at the council seems to be able to advise if they can have the sat nav system altered to the correct display for the A530 showing that the road actually goes underneath the canal and not over it.

The council say signs advising for high sided HGVs to ignore sat nav are not needed, but apparently some councillors think expenditure on signage for the fleeting glimpse of the GB cycle race warrant erecting!
