ON Saturday, April 31, my mother and I were walking our dogs along the bottom of Matalan car park in Northwich when a rather large rottweiler came from behind and chased us at an alarming rate.

As it looked aggressive we began to run towards Sainsbury’s petrol station, dog in hot pursuit.

Our dogs were trying to defend themselves as it was trying to attack both them and us.

We got away without any harm thanks to a very kind man, who was just leaving.

He scared the dog away as we took cover in the petrol station. We then called the police who attended in minutes.

We would like to thank the kind man who helped, the police and the staff at the petrol station for helping us.

We don’t know what would have happened otherwise.

Thank you.

The dog came from the overflow car park on Leicester Street wearing a red harness.

He was black and tan and very large for its breed.

We hope this is an isolated incident but dog walkers be aware.

The police are sorting out the situation.
