ONE of the reasons we have been experiencing terrible floods in the UK is that the Environment Agency are not allowed to dredge the rivers.

Why is that? I hear you ask.

It is because of the European Water Framework Directive,which was introduced in 2000.

To comply with EU obligations, the UK had to stop dredging and allow rivers to “re-connect with their floodplains”.

The only way to reverse this nonsense is to vote to get out of the EU when the referendum comes.

It is interesting that the media, who are mainly pro EU, have largely not mentioned this EU dredging ban.
