I WAS interested in reading David Barker’s comments about parking in last week’s Guardian.

I too at first thought why the need for the Co-op to crack down on parking at their Chesterway Store.

The Thursday of the week before the parking restrictions came in, however, there was only one space left to park in when I visited the store – so I guess that the Co-op must have reason to pay for the parking company to monitor the site.

Perhaps Mr Barker would find it laughable if he drove 10 miles only to be unable to park where he wanted to shop.

No doubt the Co-op will continue to review the situation – should over-capacity occur, then perhaps any spare parking areas could be reserved for people to pay to park at a reasonable rate during normal working hours?
