WEAVER Valley Road, Winsford, is not only home to a carvery, Wickes, Arnold Clark and Fords of Winsford, but is the main cul-de-sac approach into a residential area comprising of around 150 to 160 houses.

This evening, September 30, I had to navigate eight HGVs parked up for an overnight stop.

It is bad enough in the day with all of the staff cars littering the road from Arnold Clark, but at night it is disgraceful and dangerous to navigate past all the trucks parked, near junctions, with no passing places and no running lights.

While I am sure that it brings in a bit of trade for the carvery, as residents we also find all manner of litter and much worse. This will be from a minority.

No highway laws may have been broken.

However, while I completely understand that these lorries serve a great purpose to the country, moving all manner of goods around for us to use and purchase, I would assume that the companies that these lorries belong to would have some sort of corporate social responsibility?

Thank you drivers for delivering the goods, but this road is getting ridiculous.

I am confident that many people that work for these firms would not wish to see lines of large lorries parked either outside or just down the road from them.

Many are not only parked opposite an entrance road, but very close to a major roundabout junction.

The issue seems to be getting worse and will only escalate further once the winter draws in and we get all the salt lorries parking overnight.

Enough is enough, we have to live here and it is getting out of hand.

What can be done?

Can the council impose a ban on overnight HGV parking, provide litter bins, clarify what the law states about overnight parking (running lights, distance from junctions)?

It feels like we are living on an industrial estate. This is not just one night!

Please hauliers, show a little CSR, council, please come up with a solution... secure overnight parking on Winsford Industrial or Nat Lane estates.
