I RECENTLY read the article in your paper regarding the speed limit on Wallerscote Road.

I live on Wallerscote Road and I would like to bring it to readers' attention that the speed limit has still not been changed.

Apparently it was meant to be done in September 2014, then in April 2015 (due to financial reasons) and now it is August 2015 and it has still not been done.

It has been implied that again this is down to financial reasons.

I would like to pose a question.

It has been agreed that the road will be changed to a 40mph.

If now, someone comes barrelling down the road, sees the national speed limit signs therefore assumes it is safe to do 60 and subsequently has a crash, could they potentially sue the council if they were to find out that actually the signs should have been changed to 40mph months ago?

After all the signs are there to indicate what speed it is safe to drive.

With winter coming it is only a matter of time before something serious happens.
