THE third charity scooter rally was held over last weekend and was once again a huge success.

This event brings many hundreds of visitors to Northwich and the West Cheshire area.

The event also attracts many hundreds of local people who pop in for a couple of hours to experience all that goes on.

Inevitably running this type of event does cause some disruption to a small number in the community and for that we are sorry but we have tried hard to keep any inconvenience to a minimum.

The event is a success because of the visitors and because of the vast array of voluntary help given.

Those supporting the event are too numerous to mention individually but special thanks do go to the owners and staff at Blakemere Craft Village for their enduring support and to the army of helpers from Omega Scooter Club, Samaritans, Macmillan Cancer Care, Girl Guiding and Northwich 'Mother' Club all of whom put in long shifts over Friday, Saturday and on Sunday with litter picking.

The whole event is organised by Rotarians from Northwich Vale Royal Rotary Club, again all volunteers.

Your readers may be interested to know that some of these individual Rotarian volunteers gave up sixty, seventy and even eighty hours this week alone in preparation and running the event.

Why? because "we are for communities" and this event brings communities together and at the same time raises money which is reinvested in worthwhile community causes.

Thank you to everyone involved, it has been a wonderful team effort.

Gordon Atkinson President Northwich Vale Royal Rotary Club.
