BACK in March 2015, Having heard of the Ovo/CE energy scheme, I enquired about the offer of cheaper power to residents within the borough.

I was connected by phone to the project leader, whom I advised I was an existing Ovo energy customer, and the package was soon to end.

He advised me that he did not deal with the everyday running but took our details and said he would get the energy team to phone us with a price for gas/electric.

Readers note I would have thought anyone "in charge" of a department should be aware of a deal "currently" under offer as Cllr Michael Jones says it is investing in – not making out – of the scheme.

I have not heard further from the CE energy team while in this week's Guardian Cllr Jones states that they are attempting to eradicate fuel poverty.

How many residents have they failed to connect to? During our period of "being kept in the dark" by the council we have used the internet search to compare prices and decided that an alternative supplier (Sainsbury's Energy) to whom we have switched, suits our requirements, predicted to save us £200–£300 on our previous supplier.

I would urge any residents that they need to check fully any deal from any energy offer that it suits their needs.
