THE two Tory candidates in the CWAC elections in Winnington and Castle Ward tell us, Opinion April 22, that they have been working with residents over the past 12 months to find a solution to the unadopted roads on Solvay, Hemming and Dyer.

It seems strange, if this problem has been "around for many years", that only now are council letters going out to residents asking for a £2,500 per house contribution to the adoption of these roads.

Stranger still that ward representatives were not told of this letter.

Astonishingly, both these candidates tell us that when they have resolved this problem they "will seek to do likewise for the other 10 unadopted roads in the area".

Their own Tory-controlled council is facing a £44 million funding gap.

So where is the money to come from?

Another charge request to residents?

And will this be interest free?

And what about the many other adopted roads in the ward with potholes?

Perhaps, instead of asking residents to pay on their homes, they could request CWAC use some of the money collected from the 5,453 motorists issued with penalty tickets in the town between January 2014 and February 2015.

The response would be interesting.
