I REFER to the photograph of pupils and teacher at Victoria Road Primary School (Guardian, July 23).
I am the granddaughter of the teacher, William Joseph Johnson, and wish to point out that he would never be referred to as "Pop" as he was too well respected.
He also had a very good aim with a piece of chalk.
I was in the infant school in 1945 and the school was called the Elementary School.
It was a lovely surprise to receive the photo from a friend as I live in North Yorkshire.
