ONCE again, on what must be Cheshire’s worst road, another fatal accident has occurred at the junction of King Street and Croxton Lane and my condolences go to the family of the person who lost their life.

It is only months since the fatality at Yatehouse Lane.

As local residents know, there have been a number of accidents at this spot and a few years ago Cheshire West and Chester Council spent more than £500,000 to supposedly improve safety at this junction.

The day after this ‘improved junction’ was reopened; I travelled from Middlewich to Northwich to find a vehicle had run into the rear of another; car- shunts still continue at this point.

I noticed at the time that the junction remained unlit and I wrote to the Highways Agency asking why no street column had been erected.

I was advised that no electrical supply was ‘handy’ to connect to and it would have increased the cost to run a supply to this point.

I agree with Mike Parsons, for whom I have the greatest regard, and feel that the council need to install traffic signals at this junction.

There is probably a need for the implementation of a speed limit on King Street from Ravenscroft Hollow/Centurian Way to the Morrisons complex at Gadbrook and from the end of the 30mph zone on Croxton Lane to the junction at Croxton.
