BOTH 1874 Northwich and Northwich Victoria are out of the FA Cup.

1874 were defeated 2-0 at Ossett United in the extra preliminary round this afternoon.

Both goals came in the first half courtesy of Alex Peterson in the 16th and 22nd minutes.

The visitors will be disappointed how they conceded both to the tall striker at the far post from free-kicks.

Although Ossett came close to a third goal when they hit the post in the 77th minute, 1874 were dominant for periods of the tie but could not find the net.

Time after time Ossett through bodies at shots on goal, successfully managing to block out those attempts.

Greens will get their league campaign underway against Kidsgrove Athletic at Townfield next Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Meanwhile, Northwich Victoria bowed out at the first hurdle against Skelmersdale United in Burscough last night.

Even though they had Caelan Kilheeney sent off for a high foot in the 31st minute when trailing 1-0, they pushed Skem to the wire.

In fact, they levelled the game through Callum Parker after 63 minutes.

The hosts did manage a quick response to go back in front four minutes later through Joel Ogiugo but were only able to make the victory safe two minutes into added time courtesy of Kristian Knowles.

Skem, demoted to the North West Counties Premier League from the Northern Premier League last season after ground grading, will go on to entertain Nantwich Town in the preliminary round.

Vics commence their new era in the Midland League next Saturday when they host Studley at the U Lock It Stadium, kick-off 3pm.

Winsford United’s new season in NWCFL Division One South was stalled by the weather.

Incessant rain left Barton Stadium’s pitch waterlogged and a new date will have to be scheduled for their clash with Droylesden.
