WITTON Albion’s undefeated start to the 2023-24 season continued in midweek.

Jon Macken’s side drew 1-1 at Bootle on Tuesday night thanks to a Joe Duckworth 70th-minute penalty rebound.

The hosts had led since Andy Scarisbrick netted in the 17th minute.

Witton, seventh in Norther Premier League West from one win and two draws, host Avro on Saturday and then visit Runcorn Linnets on Monday, both 3pm kick-offs.

In the same division, 1874 still await their first win of the new term but they did achieve another point on Tuesday night.

A minute after Jack Langston put Chasetown ahead from the penalty spot, Fenton Green earned 1874 a share of the spoils at Townfield.

1874, who are 16th on the ladder, travel to Prescot Cables on Saturday and then entertain Nantwich on Monday.

Northwich Victoria, who were without a game at the weekend and drew 2-2 in a friendly at Wythenshawe Town on Tuesday, start their FA Vase campaign on Saturday.

Although Vics play their home games at Witton’s U Lock It Stadium, with Witton playing there on Saturday and Vics’ opponents Selby Town not being able to travel for a Friday night kick-off, the first qualifying round tie will be played at Winsford United’s Barton Stadium, kick-off 3pm.

Vics will return to Wincham to host Lichfield City in the Midland League Premier Division on Monday, kick-off 3pm.

Winsford United may welcome the break from league action as they head to Armthorpe Welfare in the FA Vase on Saturday.

They suffered a seventh successive defeat on Tuesday since dropping to North West Counties League First Division South, this time falling 3-0 at Ashville.

Blues, who are rooted at the bottom of the table, will host Maine Road on Monday, 3pm.
