Marston's petition to wind up Northwich Victoria Developments at Chester County Court

A BREWERY wants to shut down a company set up to buy Northwich Victoria’s former ground by the club’s owner.

Marston’s presented a petition to a judge at Chester County Court yesterday, Wednesday, to wind up Northwich Victoria Developments Ltd.

The case has been adjourned until next month on a date to be confirmed.

Northwich Victoria Developments is a firm registered by Jim Rushe in March 2009 with the intention of becoming owner of the land on which the Victoria Stadium is built.

However the nine-acres plot was instead acquired by a firm based next door, Thor Specialities (UK) Ltd, earlier this year.

Before that Northwich Victoria Developments had been given permission to run the stadium by receivers from Deloitte, who were appointed in October 2008 by Clydesdale Bank to sell the site.

The bank had seized the asset from Beaconet Limited, a company owned by Rushe’s predecessor.

Asked to comment by the Guardian , Marston’s said it preferred not to while legal proceedings were active.

Good God! How many more "Northwich Victoria's" are there? Mr Rushe, for goodness sake give the poor saps who support Vics their club back.
