ARCHERS have asked for help to piece together their club’s history as they prepare to celebrate a significant anniversary.
Winnington Park Bowmen formed in 1957, and are planning a series of events to mark what is their 60th birthday.
However, treasurer Mark Phipps told the Guardian that records belonging to the group had been lost following the club’s move from an indoor practice space at the former St Luke’s Church building in Winnington.
They have since moved to a purpose-built range across the road at Winnington Park Recreation Club.
“It’s a big year for us,” said Phipps.
“While we are long-established, we actually have very little physical evidence of our history.
“That’s why we’re putting out a call to anybody that might have photos, cuttings or records.”
The Bowmen have also said results of past club championships, so they can compile a list of former winners, would also come in very handy.
Their membership has continued to grow thanks to the success of their regular ‘Have A Go...,’ sessions, fun days and courses for beginners.
