KERRY Gillies was among the county’s best performers during the North West Grades Finals on Saturday.

The Hartford School of Gymnastics student, representing Cheshire and Merseyside, helped her team to first place at Grade Three.

“She had a fantastic day, performing brilliantly on all pieces of apparatus,” said coach Michelle Oakes.

“It’s a reward for all of her hard work and determination during training.”

The 12-year-old, who attends Grange School in Hartford, also claimed second spot in the solo standings.

She earned a place in the county team after scoring higher than her rivals during the Cheshire and Merseyside Grades in Liverpool last month, where she showcased a routine on all four regular pieces of apparatus – bars, beam, floor and vault.

Oakes added: “We’re really proud of Kerry, she’s always a pleasure to work with.”

The club's gymnasts turn their attention next to the Cheshire and Merseyside Floor and Vault Championships in Liverpool next month.
