Northwich Manchester Villa 3 Barnton 3

DESPITE blowing a three-goal lead on Saturday, Leon Knight’s Barnton side remain top of the North West Counties League First Division table.

Kayde Coppin netted on his debut before two Kev Towey goals sent the Villagers into a three-goal lead inside 19 minutes.

But Gavin Salmon, Carlos Correira and Daniel Burns strikes made sure the points were shared.

"It was a strange game and one that has left us in a little bit of shock,” said assistant manager Andy Burgess.

“For 20 minutes we were outstanding, but for 70 we were shocking and that's not acceptable by any stretch of the imagination.”

Coppin was off the mark almost immediately in a Barnton shirt, rounding the keeper and slotting home, before the visitors doubled their lead on 13 minutes with a tap in for Towey.

The forward got his second soon after, chipping the ball over the keeper after collecting Colin Quirk’s pass.

But Salmon and Corriera reduced the deficit to one goal by the half-hour, before Burns grabbed the equaliser with 22 minutes remaining.
