Match pointers
1874 NORTHWICH, sent out of the Cheshire FA Senior Cup at the last eight stage in midweek, will want to avoid a second knockout exit against league rivals Formby this afternoon.

Their task is a daunting one against opponents to whom they have lost twice already this term, including a 4-2 reverse in the Division One Challenge Cup earlier this month.

The Squirrels were runners-up in this competition last term too.

They have avoided defeat every time they’ve travelled away for a Division One match this term, a sequence of 13 matches that includes 10 wins.

Ian Street’s men have played only three matches, all in cup competitions, since the turn of the year – losing two of those.

The 1874 boss will have available again winger Daley Woods and midfielder Lee Jones, both unavailable for Wednesday’s reverse against Tranmere.

Danny Thomas (work) and Chris Lunn (ineligible) will not feature.

The newly-formed club has fond memories of playing at the Select Security Stadium; they defeated Widnes there 3-0 in December, matching the score when they lifted the Supporters Direct Shield at the same venue last summer.
