OULTON Park’s seconds remain on course for promotion to the top-flight following a comfortable eight-wicket win against Bowdon on Saturday.

Their bowling attack again delivered the goods, with Elliott Ashwell (2-2), Owen Williamson (3-45), Tom Hyslop (2-2) and Simon Torlop (2-14) combining to knock over their guests for 83.

Hyslop (50) later scored a half-century as the men from Little Budworth cruised to a 12th league win of the summer.

They could not take that form into the Joseph Holt Brewery T20 Finals Day on home turf the following day, succumbing to higher-ranked Alderley Edge in the last four.

Oulton ran up 162-9, with Ben Tomlinson (35 off 17 balls) and Roger Thompson (34no) the pick of their performers.

However Oliver Wildig (69 off 41 balls) helped his side to 164-8 with five balls to spare.

They went on to beat Chester Boughton Hall by eight wickets in the final.

Davenham’s seconds remain in the Division One drop zone following a five-wicket reverse at home to their Stockport counterparts.

The hosts fell to 124 all out, with Elliot Alston (39) their leading scorer at the top of the order.

Neil Murray (2-40) made initial inroads in the visitors’ reply at Butcher’s Stile, but they reached 127-5 in the 29th over.

In Division Two, a depleted Northwich side lost heavily at Sale.

The hosts racked up 261-5, with Siyan Siraj (139no off 98 balls) their outstanding performer.

Meanwhile the Moss Farm outfit mustered only 54 in reply, with opener Andrew Pickstock accounting for 22 of those.

Weaverham were knocked over for 92 at Bollington, where Jonny Littler (28) and Craig Pinnington (23) reached double figures.

However the home team eased to their target in 21 overs with seven wickets to spare.

Middlewich seconds were also well-beaten, this time by nine wickets at high-flying Ashton on Mersey.

The visitors made only 62, with Lee Heap taking 5-27.

Josh Coleridge (54no off 36 balls) then led his side to victory in 11 overs, with Brandon Oakes (1-27) taking the only wicket to fall.
