DAVENHAM continue to lead the way in Division Two after extending a winning sequence to four matches at the weekend.

Hosts Bollington started positively after choosing to bat first, but captain Joe Binder (65) had to be gritty to ensure their innings remained respectable before closing on 139.

Phil Sharples (4-38) was most successful of the visitors’ attack.

They cruised to victory in 28 overs, captain Martin Goff (72no) leading by example as he steered his in-form side to 141-2.

Weaverham rise to fourth in the table after successfully chasing 233 to beat Irby by four wickets at Wallerscote Road.

Jarrod Pickering (104) scored a ton, while James Bell (52) made it to a half-century as the Russets’ second string made it three wins from their past five league matches.

Northwich made it two wins from their past three matches after beating Alvanley by 50 runs at Moss Farm.

Captain Gavin Twigg (34no) and Andrew Pickstock (33) were the leading scorers for the hosts as they set their opponents a victory target of 153.

However Twigg, with figures of 7-30 that included a hat-trick, ripped through their order – supported by Mark Wrench (2-29) – to dismiss them for 102.

Oulton Park went down narrowly, by nine runs, at Widnes.

Elliott Ashwell (5-41) and Rob Smith (3-49) did the damage for the visitors as they restricted the home team to 180 all out.

However their reply fell short at 171 all out, with opener Ben Tomlinson (51), skipper Mark Johnson (34no) and Mark Latham (31) their leading scorers.

Joe McCurdy took 3-37, while three Oulton Park batsmen were run out.

Middlewich suffered a sixth defeat of the campaign in Division One, this time by four wickets at Grappenhall.

The visitors, after winning the toss, posted 181-7 thanks to contributions from opener pair David Bates (30) and Sam Youds (50) before Luke Houghton (41no) and Kieran Boyle (30) chipped in later.

Grappers wrapped up a victory in the 38th over, despite the best effort of skipper Alex Gill (3-23), at 182-6.
