KALLUM Boyle’s unbeaten half-century proved in vain as Middlewich lost by three wickets at home to promotion-chasing Timperley on Saturday.

He struck 62 not out off 57 balls as his side posted 172-6 after winning the toss, including a 70-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Luke Houghton (25).

Kieran Boyle contributed 42 further up the order, while Matt Fletcher took 91 for the visitors.

Timperley made it to their target with two overs to spare despite the best efforts of the hosts’ Sam Brothers (3-54) and Kyran Davies (2-18).
