COMBERBACH A take on Premier Division rivals Rudheath A in the tie of the round as the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association’s Littler Cup starts tonight, Monday.

The men from Middlewich Road start with a slight handicap advantage at Moulton RBL, where the 2010 Whitby Cup winners will cede an 18-chalk head-start.

The two scored a win apiece in their head-to-heads last season.

Wharton Cons B are the only other top tier team launching their campaign this week, although they will expect to beat underdogs Tarporley RBL, from Section Five, even with 110 marks to make up.

Elsewhere Lostock Social, also from the league’s bottom tier, take on Section One’s Beech Tree A at Rudheath while sixth tier rivals Davenham C meet Winnington B at Owley Wood.

Comberbach  B, Whitby Cup runners-up two years ago, have been paired with league foes Frodsham Red Lion C at Crowton.

Another Section One side, Owley Wood B, are favourites to progress at the expense of Hartford B.
A total of 22 teams take part in Monday’s first round, which start at 6.30pm.

Holders Rudheath C, who won both team knockout competitions last summer, have a bye to the second stage where their opponents will be Meadow Bank A.

Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association champions Wharton Cons A have Kelsall A in their way, while Castle Private A will take on Davenham B.
