Chris Gahgan scores late leveller for Witton Albion on the road at Salford City

CHRIS Gahgan came off the bench to rescue a point for Witton at Salford on a night when none of the leading teams tasted victory.

The former Warrington Town front man was first to react after Anthony Sheehan’s spot kick had been parried by Ammies keeper Chris Howarth, awarded when Alex Mortimer handled inside the penalty area.

Ex-Witton attacker Adam Morning, on as a substitute, had given the hosts the lead with a quarter hour left when his flick from Osebi Abadaki’s cross dropped under the crossbar.

A surprise defeat for leaders AFC Fylde at Woodley Sports, plus a last minute leveller for Ossett Town that helped them to hold Curzon Ashton, leaves Albion – who introduced new recruit Ashley Stott as a second half substitute following his return to the Help for Heroes Stadium – eight points adrift of the summit.

They host fellow promotion-hopefuls Farsley this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
