WINGER Mark Peers will return to Northwich next season after signing for Vics’ Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division rivals Kendal Town.

His wait is a short one, with the Cumbrians the first team to visit the Victoria Stadium next month.

“I felt it was massively important to add some experience to a young squad,” Kendal manager Lee Ashcroft told his club’s official website.

Peers, 27, struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting line-up for Andy Preece’s men last term, playing only 15 times from the start in league and cup.

The former Fleetwood, Halifax and Witton Albion wide man is one of four new recruits unveiled by Kendal this week.

Defender Marc Joseph, plus front pair Andy Bell and Gary McEvatt are the others.

Ascroft added: “I have been impressed with the fitness levels, attitude and commitment shown by these lads in both the training sessions and matches we have played so far.”
