MATT Langridge goes for gold in the final World Cup regatta of the season later today, Sunday.
The Northwich Rowing Club star is part of the Great Britain men’s four crew, which set the fastest time during qualifying on Friday.
The 26-year-old, joined be Knutsford’s Ric Egington, Alex Partridge and Alex Gregory, looked in impressive form in the first heat.
They had more than a length lead on the rest of the field by halfway and were winners by two seconds over the USA at the line in 6:06.31.
The Americans overhauled the Czech Republic in the final sprint for the line.
Germany, winners last time out in Munich, won the other heat in 6:08.62 ahead of Slovenia.
Today’s final, to be broadcast live by the BBC through the Red Button service, starts at 12.45pm.
