DAVENHAM and Marple share top spot in Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two.

This is after beating Cheadle Hulme and Mobberley respectively, and will meet on the last day of the season.

Maritime lead Division Three by 44 points after bowliing Heaton Mersey out for 96.

Oakmere slippped to third when they were defeated by five wickets at Ashley.

At the foot of the table, Barrow lost to Hawk Green and will be relegated, but Winnington Park earned a draw from Warrington.

Northwich moved out of the danger zone with a 72-run win at Tattenhall, Benedict Verma taking 5-26 and Pranav Dhanawade hitting 67.

For Tattenhall, former Northwich veteran Mel Dobson took 5-40.

Boosted by a brilliant innings of 142 not out by Sam Perry, Alderley Edge won by six wickets in a high-scoring game at Toft to enhance their chances of winning the Cheshire County League premiership.

Rohan Fernando contributed 78 to Toft’s 281-6, Alderley replying with 283-4 with three overs remaining.

Like Alderley, second-placed Didsbury have two games left with 21 points in arrears after beating Neston.

Chester lie third a further 38 points back after losing at bottom team Brooklands, hot favourites to go down.

In Division One, Bowdon and Timperley lie top equal after beating Stockport Georgians and Urmston respectively.

Oulton Park lost by eight wickets at Sale, despite good knocks by Danny Leech, 54, and Andy Metcalf, 49 not out.

Congleton are bottom and look likely to stay there.
