THE battle to avoid relegation from Division Three of the Cheshire County Cricket League intensified when Warrington failed to beat fellow strugglers Winnington Park and dropped to bottom spot.

This was despite a fine 101 by Mal Agar in a tally of 255-6. Winnington replied with 207-7 (Colin Devanney 66).

Northwich beat Tattenhall at Moss Farm by 136 runs, with Danu Dhardawade hiting 70 and Glinoj Cherian 78. Tattenhall were then ousted for 104, with Siroban Dk taking 4-35.

Also in Division 3, Oakmere lost at home to Ashley by one wicket after posting 209, Slade Mitrovic 87.

Kingsley went down to Upton, for whom League officer Sharrock took 5-25.

In Division Two, Davenham continued their good run up to third place with a five-wicket win at Cheadle Hulme, with Harry Gardner and Mushtaq Abid sharting six wickets.

Mobberley ran up 255 at Marple but fell 14 short of the leaders’ 269-4, which featured Grant Hodnett’s 122. Osman Butt hit 155 for Mobbers.

Oulton Park lost by seven wickets at home to Sale after running up 228-6 (Andy Metcalf 67, Pat Roberts 55). Sale replied with 233-3.

Alvanley drew at home to Bramhall after posting 178 (Simon Gee 61). In Bramhall’s response of 147-7, Steve Charles claimed 6-26. 

Neston and Hyde share top spot in the Premier League – Neston beat 2022 champions Didsbury by two wickets while Hyde won by four wickets at home to Cheadle.

Toft pulled off a fine win by four wickets at Alderley Edge, who totalled 269-6 (Tom Forster 4-75). Toft replied with 271-6, helped by Jimmy O’Sullivan’s sparkling 96.

Grappenhall posted 237-8 at home to Oxton (Ben Bodha 60, Adam Roylance 50) but it was not enough with the Wirralians hitting back with 238-3, Henry Dobson striking a superb 117 not out.
