DAVENHAM Cricket Club are celebrating two of their players, Harry Taylor and Brandon Jones, being selected to represent Cheshire in the under 13s district festival.

Harry has made his first two senior appearances for the club over the past two weekends, and took his first wicket with the third team in their win at Runcorn on Sunday.

Brandon is due to also make his senior debut soon.

It is the second year running that Davenham have had players from the under 13s chosen to represent Cheshire.

A club spokesman said: “Supporting juniors is something we are very proud of at DCC.”

Meanwhile, reigning champions Didsbury were dismissed for 139 and beaten at home by Widnes among several major upsets in the Cheshire County Cricket League’s four divisions, writes Mike Talbot-Butler.

Aquib Uppal did the damage for Widnes with 6-56.

Last season’s National T20 runners-up Nantwich were dismissed for 47 at Hyde (Luke Young 6-18) who went on to win by  six wickets. The Dabbers had six ducks.

New leaders are Neston who beat Wirral neighbours Oxton by six wickets.

Toft’s bid to overtake Cheadle’s 211 was foiled by rain when they had reached 66-3 in response to 222. Antony Yaksender scored 99 for Cheadle.

Grappenhall’s last pair held out at Brooklands with 180-9. Brooklands hit 248, Tom McGahan 5-78.

Chester’s batsmen failed at home to Alderley Edge, totalling only 96, with Andy Brindle 4-31. Edge totalled 177, with Jack Williams 4-52.

Bowdon and Sale are joint leaders of Division One.

Bowdon hit 186-8, Matt Tully 58, before dismissing their neighbours Timperley for 140, Rob Lord 5-31.

Oulton Park won by six wickets at Alvanley, with Nick Ball 5-30, Tex Bollingbroke 50no.

Rain intervened in Division Two which Cheadle Hulme lead by two points after a winning draw against Christleton.

Adam Wilde top scored with 72, Christleton responding with 108-5, Tom Balderson 4-18.

Davenham lost by eight wickets against Mobberley after being bowled out for 67.

New boys Maritime, and early leaders from Wirral, won by 41 runs against struggling  Northwich after totalling 147, Joel Logan 5-50. Northwich mustered just 105.

Winnington Park were trounced at Heaton Mersey, the home side posting 235-5, John Barrett 65 not out.

Park had four ducks in their reply before number 10 Neil Langhan stayed with 28 not out, Luke Marshall 5-24.

Warrington won at Oakmere by 62 runs. The winners totalled 223-9, James Lewis 51, James Hodkinson 4-59, before Oakmere were dismissed for 161, Chris Phelan 35.
