Why should I watch..?
A six-goal thriller, which included two goals in the closing stages by 1874 after they had trailed 3-1, should have whetted the appetite for more.
Both teams have a second chance to make history by reaching the next stage for the first time and they also know the prize after being paired with Mossley, from the Northern Premier League’s Division One North, in Monday’s draw.
Neither side is likely to sacrifice their commitment to attack and nor should they with two of the North West Counties League’s most formidable strikers – 1874’s McGowan and Tom Bailey for West – in their ranks.
What they’ve said
“West’s strength is going forward, a bit like ours is.
“They’ll give up chances, and we have to be ready to take advantage.
“The lads showed fantastic spirit to come back from 3-1 down, a position from which we would likely have lost last season.”
Wayne Goodison, 1874 Northwich co-manager
Numbers game
The four FA Cup ties played by these teams this season have yielded 17 goals.
West Didsbury are still waiting to record a first win against 1874 after an eighth attempt, following a sequence of seven successive defeats, ended in a stalemate at the weekend.
Man to keep an eye on
Kyle Riley
The front man may not start, but proved he can make a valuable contribution as a substitute after scoring a goal that acted as a catalyst for 1874’s comeback late on in Saturday’s first meeting.
The former Winsford United captain has had to be patient since switching from Glossop North End before the start of the season, but the confidence boost from a first goal can only help his mood.
1874 team news
Paul Connor is available again after completing a three-match ban.
However 1874 are without long-term injury absentees Mark Jones (foot), Danny Thomas and Joe Woolley (both knee) while wide man Ryan Jackson is due to have an operation this week.
