1874 NORTHWICH played nine matches in a historic FA Cup run that took them to the third qualifying round.
A huge travelling support followed them to West Yorkshire for a replay with Ossett Town last night.
They saw their favourites bow out on penalties after a goalless stalemate and extra time.
Here's a flavour of the reaction on social media:
Management team
Joint boss Wayne Goodison was characteristically philosophical:
What doesnβt kill you, makes you stronger.....

Meanwhile Paul Bowyer tipped his hat to those fans that made the trip to Ingfield:

Players
Goalkeeper Greg Hall followed Bowyer's lead, and applauded the supporters:

Midfielder Mark Jones' ears were still ringing when he made a typo:

Wide man Taylor Kennerley, one of 1874's outstanding individual performers this season, gives his verdict:
Gutted to have lost tonight but the lads put a proper shift in and deserved to win! Fans were something elseππ» @1874Northwich @1874Matchday

Meanwhile Ben Woods, an unused substitute, was probably pondering what time he would arrive home after posting this at almost 1.30am:
Stress

It was almost 2am when football secretary Vicki England walked through the door:
Arrived home after an 11 hour trip out with the 74. The lads were disappointed but so grateful for such amazing support. Onward to Saturday (after a good rest for everyone!) @1874Northwich

Opposition
Ossett Town were gracious in victory:
A real end to end game last night with @1874Northwich in the #EmiratesFACup - what a great run they had to get to this stage ππ
β Ossett Town AFC (@OssettTownAFC) October 4, 2017
And to finish...
The numbers man Phil Annets sums it up:
Commiserations to everyone involved with @1874Northwich - a terrific, memorable #FACup run

9 matches 840 minutes 17 goals https://t.co/7WxL44c3tc
Although perhaps not as well as 1874 Northwich themselves:
