Match pointers

TWO of the Premier Division’s most in-form front men, 1874’s Matthew Beadle and Danny Boyle, his opposite number at Colne, come face-to-face in the Men United Cup last 16 tomorrow.

The hosts protect a 19-match unbeaten sequence in all competitions, a sequence they extended with a prized three points against promotion rivals Glossop in midweek.

Ian Street, who picks a side for the 75th time this weekend, has a full squad to pick from with Paul Connor available again.

Colne have climbed to seventh in the table during a run of one defeat in seven league matches since losing to 1874 last month.

That reverse was a 6-0 hammering by Glossop a fortnight ago.

The Barton Stadium hasn’t proved a happy place to visit for the Lancashire outfit, who have lost on their past four journeys there to play Winsford.
