Match pointers
1874 NORTHWICH, close to a month without playing a league game, will be desperate for tomorrow’s home date with lowly Eccleshall to take place.
Ian Street’s men have won five of their past six matches in Division One, collecting maximum points from their previous four games at Barton Stadium while scoring 15 goals.
In contrast, their guests this weekend are the section’s worst travellers after losing each of their nine matches on the road.
The hosts have added midfield anchor Michael Aston to their squad this week, a player familiar to Street from their time together at Winsford United.
Northwich are one of three teams tied on 49 points behind pace-setting Nelson, occupying fourth place due to an inferior goal difference compared to promotion rivals Formby and Atherton Collieries.
Eccleshall have lost four successive league matches since beating Flixton Villa in November, and have scored fewest goals in the division this season – just 17.
They lost the return match against 1874 Northwich, by 2-0, earlier in the campaign too.
