VALE Royal Athletics Club scaled new heights on Saturday.

They returned from the English Cross Country relays with two bronze medals, an incredible feat from a competition featuring more than 600 teams.

"It was a stunning day for us," said coach Shaun McGrath.

The U20s girls trio of Hannah Weedall, Charlotte Roach and Stevie Stockton were in top form in their race, clocking two of the day's four fastest times at Mansfield.

That feat was made the more impressive by the fact that Stockton was carrying an injury.

Also on the podium was the U15s girls team.

On the last leg Megan Huxley took them from 14th up to third, not surprisingly clocking one of the fastest splits of the day in her age category.

Charlotte Mills and Claire Perry were her teammates.

The U17s girls team, consisting of Kathy Stringer, Kate Howard and Rebecca Craigie, finished in a brilliant sixth spot.

Lewis Healey anchored the U13s boys trio to 16th place after Josh Boyce and Mike Vennard had set the pace earlier on.
