WEAVERHAM celebrated back-to-back wins in the Cheshire County League for the first time in almost two years when they prevailed by six wickets at Warrington.

The home team, beaten only once in their previous eight matches in Division Two this term, put 192-6 on the board after being put in.

Fiaz Ahmed (3-34) enjoyed success before a partnership between Liam Heaphy (42) and Sam Houghton (51no) steered their side from danger at 106-5.

The Russets reached their target at 193-4 after Jake Lightfoot (54) and captain Ian Eaton (61no) had both passed 50 – the latter as part of an unbroken stand with Ryan Simm (35no).

Lee Evans’ maiden first-team century was a highlight for Northwich as they ran up 231-8 against Mobberley at Moss Farm.

That included adding 97 for the eighth wicket with Joe Walker (27no), while Hank Schlaghecke (4-52) starred for the visitors.

Mobberley made it to 183-8 in reply to earn a share of the spoils after two batsmen – Matt Mountney (56) and Abdul Aqeel (51no) – contributed half-centuries.

Andrew Dufty (4-45) was the pick of Northwich’s bowlers.

Oulton Park endured another afternoon to forget after they folded for 114 at Alderley Edge in the Premier Division.

A third successive defeat in all competitions was a painful one after their hosts’ tally of 274-8 left them 160 runs better off in the final reckoning.

Muhammad Kashif (2-72) at least denied Calum Rowe (91) a ton, while Craig Douglas (3-89) and Matt Parkinson (2-41) weighed in with wickets too.

The men from Little Budworth had no answer to Daniel Lamb, who cut a swathe through their order with 7-49.

Muhammad Shahbaz (38) and Matt Jamieson (25) offered most resistance.

Davenham were denied by the weather from defending a tally of 178 at Widnes in Division One.

James Loveridge (75) led the way, scoring 11 fours, for the visitors after they were invited to bat.

However the home team’s innings did not start after heavy rainfall left the pitch unplayable.
