HARTFORD C held Congleton A, the South and Mid Cheshire Tennis League leaders, to a creditable draw on Tuesday night.
Neil Cocker, Chris Baker, Ric Shelmerdine and Duncan Appelbe had a cracking eight sets at Chester Road, with the latter duo taking three - winning two outright and drawing the others.
Cocker and Baker took an all-important fourth set for the hosts, and went close to securing another after a tight battle with Congleton’s first pair.
The result is a significant one for Hartford A, who are battling with Congleton for supremacy in the first division.
They got the better of Hartford B in their meeting, closing a gap to the table’s summit as a result.
