A NORTHWICH schoolboy has set his sights on challenging for honours after confirming he will race in the Ginetta Junior Championship for a second season.
Luke Browning made his debut last time out with Richardson Racing, also newcomers to a competitive series, and has signed again with the Corby-based team.
“It was a late call to join the championship in 2017 and I knew early on it would be a year to learn the ropes,” said the teenager.
“I worked hard to improve, and I feel confident after mastering the style of driving that’s required.”
The 15-year-old, a student at St Nicholas Catholic High School in Hartford, secured multiple rookie class podiums over the course of the season, including a win at Rockingham.
He also produced a stunning performance during qualifying at Silverstone, where he mastered challenging weather conditions to put his car on pole.

With a year of experience under his belt, the Kingsley-based youngster is eager to contend for the title in 2018.
A testing programme has been planned before the campaign starts at Brands Hatch in April.
“Luke did a great job this year,” said team boss Gwyn Richardson.
“There’s no doubt he will be a strong contender for the championship, and we’ll go into the season extremely excited about his chances.”
