ADAM Griffiths’ maximum break was a highlight for Gladstone C as the champions moved clear at the Northwich and District League’s summit on Wednesday.

A 6-1 win against Gladstone A, coupled with a slender victory for closest-rivals Castle D against Gladstone B, establishes a two-point lead at the top of Division One.

Elsewhere Castle B recorded a first victory of the campaign at home to Nectar’s, while there were successes too for Green Dragon A – who came from 2-0 down to beat Castle A – and Castle C at Greenbank A.

Leaders Lion B lost their unbeaten record in Division Two, missing out narrowly at home to Greenbank C.

Second-placed Owley Wood cut the distance to top spot by edging Moulton Legion.

Witton Chimes A were again grateful to Kevin Peck as he remained composed to win a deciding frame against Iron Bridge.

Barn Owl B played out a thriller with Barn Owl E, taking victory in style when debutant Andy Evans cleared the table in a single visit when the teams were tied at 3-3.

Barn Owl H became the first team to inflict defeat on Barn Owl A this season in Division Three, although their clubmates still occupy first place.

Wheatsheaf missed a chance to trade places with the pacesetters when they lost 5-2 at home to Blue Barrel A.

Broken Cross and Witton Chimes B, against Green Dragon B and Blue Barrel B respectively, both recorded comfortable wins.
