GREEN Dragon A continue to lead the way in a race for promotion to the Northwich and District League’s top flight following their latest success.
They led 3-0 at home to Witton Chimes A on Wednesday, only for their guests to restore parity before Paul Oldman won a deciding leg against visiting skipper Adam Ross.
Barn Owl B remain nine points adrift in second spot after beating Chapels by the same score, while Owley Wood B’s superb win at third-placed Greenbank A keeps alive their hopes of a top-two finish.
At the bottom, there were surprise wins for Iron Bridge and Wheatsheaf against Moulton Legion and Lion A respectively.
In Division One, Bowling Green climbed from the foot of the table after recovering from 3-2 down to record an unexpected success at high-flying Castle Private B.
They are replaced there by The Elms, whitewashed by Gladstone C. Bob Holness’ maximum break was a highlight for the title favourites.
Owley Wood A lost at home to Gladstone B, while Rudheath edged Gladstone A by the odd frame.
Castle Private A succumbed to Barn Owl C in the other match played.
Barn Owl E extended their lead at the top of Division Three to 10 points following a derby success against clubmates Barn Owl A.
The Lion B closed to within four points of second-placed Nectars, who did not have a fixture, after they squeezed past Blue Barrel A.
Greenbank B remain contenders for promotion too after a 5-2 win at Witton Chimes B.
Elsewhere, Green Dragon B were comfortable victors at depleted Greenbank D, while Davenham Legion proved too strong for back-markers Blue Barrel B.
