COMBERBACH C are the lowest-ranked team to reach the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association’s Whitby Cup last eight after beating Kelsall in the third round last Monday.
The Section Four outfit did not need their handicap head-start either, winning by a 53-chalk margin at Castle Private.
They will take on Hazel Pear A, conquerors of Beech Tree A, in the quarter finals.
Elsewhere Rudheath A saw off Premier Division rivals, and runners-up last season, Castle Private A.
Wharton Cons A proved too strong for Comberbach A in another tie between top flight teams.
Meanwhile Spinner & Bergamot A, already through to the Littler Cup final this weekend, remain on course for a double after upsetting higher-ranked Owley Wood A at Hazel Pear.
Castle Private B, Comberbach B and Wharton Cons C progressed too at the expense of Davenham A, Barnton CC A and Lostock Greylams respectively.
The competition resumes later this month.
