St Nicholas RC High School student Jenny Pyatt stars for Cheshire Schools at Mason Trophy meeting
JENNY Pyatt, a student at St Nicholas RC High School, set a lifetime best while representing Cheshire Schools during inter-counties meeting at Birmingham on Saturday.
The 15-year-old, crowned county champion seven days previously, saw off her rivals in the inter girls’ discus after throwing 37.91m.
It improves by almost half a metre on a mark that earned her the regional club title earlier this month.
Cheshire placed third overall at the end of a competition for the Mason Trophy, with athletes from schools in mid Cheshire taking part in track and field events.
Fisayo Williamson-Taylor, from Grange School, finished as runner-up in the junior boys’ 100m after timing 11.3s – a new personal best.
County High School Leftwich student Will Nowell lowered his lifetime marker to 23.6s in the inter boys’ 200m, but missed out narrowly on a top 10 position.
Louis Greenwood, a pupil at the same school, was fifth in the inter boy’s javelin after throwing 49.92m.
Ellie Jackson, from Cransley, was seventh in the junior girls’ 75m hurdles, a result matched by Weaverham pair George Hyde in the junior and inter boys’ shot respectively.
Grange School’s Hepi Jolliffe was also seventh, this time in the inter boys’ discus.
Vale Royal Athletics Club’s Jacob Brown was second in the inter boys’ 800m after timing 1:55.8, a national standard performance.
