A TRIO of endurance runners from Vale Royal Athletics Club have reached markers for entry to next month’s English Schools’ National Track and Field Championships.
Jacob Brown clocked a personal best of 1:54.04 over 800m during Saturday’s British Milers’ Club Grand Prix at Sportcity in Manchester, close to four seconds inside the recommended standard for the inter boys’ class.
Amy Hinchly’s run of 4:29.15, another lifetime best, in the 1,500m at the same event is a national standard time in the inter girls’ category.
Grange School pupil Katie Gerrard, who hopes to represent Cheshire at senior girls’ level, covered the same distance in 4:38.41 – her quickest time to date.
Meanwhile Stevie Stockton lowered her personal best for the 5,000m to 15:53.26 to become a contender to represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 24-year-old placed fifth in the women’s A race in Manchester, with Vale Royal teammate Katie Brough eighth in 16:04.41.
