Barwell 0 Witton Albion 2
WITTON Albion made certain they will play again in the Premier Division next season after recording back-to-back away wins for the first time this term.
Brian Pritchard’s men were comfortable victors too on their first visit to Barwell to play a league game, avenging a last-minute home reverse against the same opponents back in August.
Scott Bakkor put the visitors in front after seven minutes, shooting past goalkeeper Liam Castle at his near post after the hosts had failed to clear.
Albion almost doubled their lead when Alex Titchiner looped an attempt over the hosts’ custodian, only for defender Jamie Hood to head clear from on the goal-line.
Castle then saved from Bakkor as Witton continued to control the encounter.
The Barwell net-minder diverted Josh Hancock’s direct attempt from free kick onto an upright, while at the other end Albion number one Matt Cooper denied Kieron Brehon.
He repeated the trick when Brehon swapped passes with Nigel Julien shortly afterwards.
In the second period, Kevin Charley’s instinctive effort was off target when a ball was driven across goal before Danny Andrews’ settled the outcome with a shot from close range.
Cooper’s final intervention was to save smartly after Luke Barlone’s free kick took a deflection.
