RUDHEATH made sure of a seventh Northwich and District League double after edging top flight rivals The Elms in Wednesday’s Team Knockout final at Gladstone.

The Pickmere outfit won the opening frame, but lost the next four with Fred Backhouse sealing victory for the Division One champions in a 4-1 success.

Barn Owl C were surprise victors in the Supplementary Shield final at the expense of newcomers Gladstone C after winning a deciding frame.

Anthony Hallwood held his nerve under pressure to win a decisive head-to-head with Steve Moores at Rudheath.

It marks the end of a successful season for the Barnton outfit, who finished fifth in Division One at the end of a debut campaign at the highest level.

Northwich A, back under the stewardship of Kevin Barry, began their latest Cheshire Interleague campaign with a 13-5 victory against neighbours Northwich B on Sunday.

They form part of a seven-strong section, with champions Crewe A the team to beat following their success last year.
