GRIFF Jones grabbed a double to send Witton through.

More than a decade has passed since Albion last won four ties in the FA Trophy, but now they are the sole representative of the Northern Premier League in the last 32.

A win over Woodley didn't come easily though.

Jim Vince's men fought back from a goal down to book their place in the second round, sealed only by a late wonder goal by Griff Jones.

Scoring late is a welcome habit to have - Albion netted two last minute strikes to sink Winsford four days earlier - and this victory was a welcome one after previous mishaps against the same opposition.

Jones' second was worth the wait as he thundered home an unstoppable volley from sub Carl Frost's assist.

Witton adapted to the synthetic surface quickly, twice testing the hosts' custodian Liam Higginbotham inside the opening 10 minutes.

Clear opportunities were kept to a premium though while Woodley warned them at the other end.

Goalkeeper Jon Kennedy blocked two shots in as many minutes on the half hour to keep the scores level.

Adam Warlow was then denied by Higginbotham seven minutes from the interval as the favourites finished the half stongly.

Rob Lloyd's set piece was headed wide by Brian Pritchard soon after the restart, before Alex Brown saw a trademark long range shot just clear the crossbar.

Woodley then got their noses in front when Nick Boothby ghosted in at the far post to head home just after the hour.

It served as a cue for Witton to find their best form.

Jones was denied by a desperate tackle when he seemed certain to score before Albion found an equaliser thanks to Higginbotham.

The keeper hauled down loan signing Shaun Miller as he entered the box to concede a penalty.

And Jones made no mistake from the spot.

Pritchard netted his second goal in a week from another Lloyd free kick to complete the turn around moments later.

Man-of-the-match Jones saved the best until last.
