STRIKER Shaun Tuck has written an open letter following Witton Albion’s announcement that he will continue to play football for them following a jail sentence.
“To everyone at Witton Albion Football Club
“I would like to apologise to you all for bringing shame on your club when I sent several tweets following the brutal murder of soldier Lee Rigby.
“My behaviour was disgusting and unacceptable, and I have brought shame on myself and my family. I was not brought up in this way by my Mum and Dad, and have been punished for my actions in a court of law.
“I am not a racist, nor am I a follower of the English Defence League. I don’t agree with their views.
“I hope that one day you can find it in your hearts to forgive me so that we can move on together.
“If anyone would like to talk to me in private about this, I will be available to sit down and apologise face-to-face.
“I love it here at Witton Albion, and promise to put things right both on the pitch and off it by picking up where I left off last season.
“Like many other people before me I have made a massive mistake, but can assure you all that I will not put you through anything like this again.”
