THE Winsford U3A open day in the library was very successful with 125 people attending.

The membership has received a boost as the organisation continues to welcome those looking to pursue new interests and make new friends.

In a recent TV programme some retired people said the secret of happiness is not wealth but shared experiences and being part of a community.

This is the ethos of U3A – it encourages third agers to make the most of this time by moving out of their comfort zones and into new experiences at very little cost.

As more retired people settle into the area to be near family, U3A provides an instant social network and the activities are many and varied.

Some new groups started by members are creative writing, bridge and model railways.

On Wednesday, September 30, a trip has been organised to the Science Discovery Centre in Widnes and on Tuesday, October 13, Mike Lyne from the Institute of Advanced Motoring will give a talk in the library on driving for third agers.

Anyone interested is invited to come along to a welcome/coffee morning on the second and fourth Friday in the month.
